1. Buttzville, New Jersey

In 1839, Michael Robert Buttz founded the small quaint town of Buttzville in White Township in Warren County, New Jersey. Buttz even named the town after his son, Liam Oakes Buttz. Little did Michael know that his family would be the butt of jokes for all eternity. 

2. Yeehaw Junction, Florida 

Nestled away in Osceola County, Florida, is Yeehaw Junction. The small town has a population of 240 according to 2010 data, and while the city is famous for its unusual name, it’s better than previous versions, such as Jackass Crossing and Jackass Junction. The original town name came from local ranchers riding donkeys to the brothel, what is now the present-day Desert Inn.

With the Florida Turnpike running through the town, the locals changed the name to something more dignified, Yeehaw Junction. Some theories suggest the name emanates from the Creek language word “wolf.” Others assume it comes from the simple fact that locals enjoy yelling, “Yeehaw!”

3. Whynot, North Carolina

A small town in North Carolina asks a critical question, “why not?” The quaint town of Whynot is in an unincorporated community in Randolph County, North Carolina Whynot is easily one of the most unusual town names on this list. The only thing funnier than the town name is the story behind it.

English and German settlers first arrived in the 18th century but the townspeople couldn’t agree on a city name. The debate continued until a man finally said, “Why not name the town “Why Not” and let’s go home?” Problem solved. 

4. Joker, West Virginia 

The unincorporated community and Batman rival, Joker, sits in Calhoun County, West Virginia. The small community actually gets its name from local merchant Joker Sewel and not the notorious comic book villain. 

5. Bat Cave, North Carolina 

Bat Cave in North Carolina is best known for its unusual town name and famous tourist attraction. The town began taking shape in late 1798 within Hickory Nut Gorge. The town’s name comes from the historic bat cave on Bluerock Mountain.

Since the 1920s, tourists have traveled from around the world to visit the famous bat cave. One 186 acres are devoted to the Bat Cave Preserve to protect the cave and bats, notably the endangered Indiana Bats that reside there. 

6. Butternuts, New York

Tucked away in the southwestern part of Otsego County, New York, is the small town of Butternuts. With a population of over 1,700, settlers first arrived in 1787. The hilarious town name comes from three white walnut trees or “butternut trees” growing from a single stump. It marked the corner of the present-day Morris, Pittsfield, and New Lisbon townships.

7. Booger Hollow, Arkansas

Booger Hollow in Arkansas is best known for the popular tourist attraction, Booger Hollow Trading Post. The trading post was 12 miles from the town near Pope County. The tourist attraction opened in 1961 but was left abandoned in 2004. Another popular attraction was the famous two-story outhouse, primarily used as a photo prop.

The town’s unique name comes from a local legend. As the story goes, the boogie man, or booger man, haunts a road in the area that runs between two cemeteries. 

8. Booger Hole, West Virgina

The idyllic unincorporated town of Booger Hole sits in the Rush Fork Valley in West Virginia. The city is famous for its unusual name and series of infamous murders.

In 1917, a grand jury and a local mob investigated a string of murders in the town. According to legend, the violence inspired the city to take on the name Booger Hole, a reference to the boogie man. The name appears to predate the crimes, leaving the origin of the town’s name a mystery.

9. Coward, South Carolina

The peaceful and quaint town of Coward hides in Florence County, South Carolina. With a population of 752, it doesn’t get too crowded in Coward. Despite having a unique town name, the townsfolk refuse to reveal the origin or inspiration for Coward. 

10. Truth or Consequences, New Mexico

Truth or Consequences in New Mexico is famous for its unusual town name and the story behind it. The city initially took the name Hot Springs because of the stunning hot springs throughout the area. In 1950, the host of the NBC Radio quiz show Truth or Consequences, Ralph Edwards, promised to host the 10th-anniversary program from any town that would change its name to Truth or Consequences.

On March 31, the former city of Hot Springs renamed itself Truth or Consequences and the rest is history. Edwards hosted the program in the first week of May, establishing a tradition known as Fiesta that continues to this day.

11. Santa Claus, Indiana 

Travel to the remote and peaceful town of Santa Claus, Indiana, where it’s Christmas all year round. Initially, the city was known as Santa Fe, but a town with the same name already existed with the Post Office. So in 1856 the town held a series of meetings and renamed itself after the famous fictional character, Santa Claus.

Due to the town name, the Post Office receives thousands of letters addressed to Santa Claus yearly. The town is also famous for its Christmas-themed attractions like Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort, Frosty’s Fun Center, and Santa’s Candy Castle. 

12. Random Lake, Wisconsin

Many towns in America seem to have random names. For instance, the village of Random Lake randomly sits in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. With a population of 1,594, it features the Nowack House, Village Hall, and Random Lake High School. Random Lake is also famous for its Welcome to Random Lake sign. 

13. Flasher, North Dakota

Believe it or not, a nudist colony was not the first settlers of the North Dakota town of Flasher. It was actually German families from Russia who established Flasher in the early 1900s. In 1902, the city named itself Flasher after resident Mabel Flasher. During the entire time the city has been functional there hasn’t been a single incident of a flasher.

14. Handsome Eddy, New York

New York is famous for its unusual town names and many handsome guys named Eddy. The small hamlet of Handsome Eddy, New York, sits in Sullivan County and is famous for its unusual town name. With a tiny population, there is very little information available about how the town got its name. One can only presume that Handsome Eddy founded the town or he was its main attraction. 

15. Ding Dong, Texas

The history of the unincorporated town of Ding Dong dates back to the 1930s when Zulis Bell and his nephew, Bert Bell, opened up a store in Central Texas. It sat at McBryde Crossing along the Lampasas River. They hired an artist to create a sign featuring a logo with two bells.

Soon, a community grew around the famous store, taking on the name Ding Dong. In 1962, the town added two distinct bells to the store. The town’s unique name even caught the attention of Ripley’s Believe it or Not. 

16. Big Bottom, South Dakota 

At one time, Big Bottom, South Dakota, was on the verge of shaking its money maker all the way to the bank. Instead, it turned into an eerie ghost town that bottomed out.

In 1878, Thomas D. Pryor founded the city by building a two-story house. He then added a saloon and dance hall, making it the ultimate watering hole in Big Bottom, attracting patrons from far away places. In 1880, the town added a post office and school, but unfortunately, the new railroad bypassed the city, making Big Bottom obsolete and leading to its downfall. 

17. Greasy Corner, Arkansas 

The unassuming Arkansas town of Greasy Corner sits at the intersection of Arkansas Highways 149 and 50. Before acquiring its odd name, the unincorporated St. Francis County community went by the name Mack’s Corner after B.M. McCollum.

McCollum was a local owner who ran an automobile repair shop, local store, and restaurant in the same building. The town changed its name after a farmer dining out at the restaurant had a grease stain on his plate. He commented that the city should rename itself Greasy Corner and the townsfolk agreed. 

18. Dummer, New Hampshire 

In Coös County, New Hampshire, sits the town of Dummer, with a population of 306. Aside from the unusual and mean town name, Dummer is best known for the Pontook Reservoir, a popular tourist attraction.

In 1773, Governor John Wentworth granted the land of Dummer to a group of investors. Wentworth had high hopes for the town and named it after Massachusetts Governor William Dummer. Dummer had successfully defeated the French and Native Americans during Dummer’s War. 

19. Spread Eagle, Wisconsin 

The unincorporated village of Spread Eagle sits peacefully in Florence County, Wisconsin. Like many cities on this list, the unusual name isn’t the only attraction. The town is best known for its famous lake chain. When viewed from above, the lakes resembles an eagle with its wings spread, hence the town name Spread Eagle. 

20. Pee Pee Township, Pike County, Ohio

There’s a good chance that the 7,776 residents living in Pee Pee Township in Pike County, Ohio, hear endless urine jokes, toilet humor, and pee-pee puns. In 1798, the Pee Pee Township started taking shape, with the town’s name derived from the nearby Pee Pee Creek. The creek’s name comes from an early settler who carved his initials “P.P.” on a tree near the river. 

Every year individuals file hundreds of meritless lawsuits using frivolous litigation to bully or threaten another individual. The good news is due to so many of these bogus lawsuits being filed, reforms are continually being put in place to stop people from making outrageous claims. 

Examples of these ridiculous lawsuits include people going up against giant corporations because of a nasty burn from hot coffee or taking on a famous celebrity due to the fact they look the same as the plaintiff.  It’s not just big corporations that end up in court either, with a high school student once filing a suit against a teacher for disturbing nap time.

There are too many hilarious examples to list, but we have selected some of the funniest, mind-numbing, and pointless lawsuits you won’t believe are real for you to read about below. 

1. Stella Lieback vs. McDonald’s Restaurants 

Stella Lieback suing McDonald’s Restaurants is among the most notorious frivolous lawsuits. At the time, the media positioned McDonald’s as the victim. In hindsight, Lieback’s suit wasn’t frivolous after all. On February 27, 1992, 79-year-old Lieback ordered a cup of coffee from an Alburquerque McDonald’s for 49 cents. While sitting in her nephew’s car, she held the cup between her legs and pulled the lid off, spilling the coffee on herself. While many weren’t sympathetic to her, she suffered third-degree burns to 6% of her body. She spent eight days in the hospital, underwent a skin graft, and an additional two years of medical treatment.

She attempted to settle with McDonald’s for $20,000 to cover her medical expenses. Her lawyer filed the suit when McDonald’s refused to settle. Lieback’s lawyer argued that the temperature of the coffee should be between 266 and 240 Fahrenheit. Instead, it was a scorching 356 to 374 Fahrenheit. The jury awarded her $2.7 million in damages, but the judge reduced it to $640,000, noting Lieback deserves 20% of the blame. 

2. Judge Sues Dry Cleaners $54 Million for Losing His Pants

In 2005, Judge Roy L. Pearson was furious when dry cleaner Custom Cleaners supposedly misplaced his pants. Pearson sued the owners, the Chungs, and demanded $67 million, which he reduced to $54 million. Better known as the “$54 million pants case,” Pearson claimed the signs “Satisfaction Guaranteed” and “Same Day Service” were misleading.

Dubbed “The Great American Pants Suit” by the media, Pearson broke down and cried on the first day of the trial over the mental anguish of losing the pants. Judge Pearson lost the case and, subsequently, his ten-year position as a judge. As a result of the case, Pearson gained the nickname “Judge Fancy Pants.” He then won the Stella Award for the most frivolous lawsuit in 2007.

3. Michael Jordan Lookalike Sues Michael Jordan 

The legendary Michael Jordan is arguably the greatest NBA player of all time. He spent most of his career playing with the Chicago Bulls, winning six championships and five MVP awards. He’s also the face of the iconic Nike Air Jordan brand. Jordan was living the dream until 2006 when he and Nike found themselves in the middle of the most epic frivolous lawsuit.

For 15 years, Chicago native Allen Heckard endured people pointing out he looked like the legendary Jordan. Anytime Heckard stepped onto a court to play ball, people would approach him and tell him he resembled Jordan. Heckard could no longer handle the burden and stress looking like Jordan caused him.

Heckard noted that he was older, so Jordan looked like him and not the other way around. So Heckard sued Jordan, Phil Knight, and Nike for a whopping $832 million for causing him emotional distress and suffering. The court case revealed Heckard is six inches shorter than Jordan and eventually the judge dismissed the case. 

4. Richard Overton vs. Bud Light

In the 90s, Richard Overton’s life changed when he watched a Bud Light commercial. The commercial made the typical promise: drink our beer and get beautiful women. So like any normal person who believes everything they see on television, Overton began drinking copious amounts of Bud Light Beer.

Strangely beautiful women weren’t throwing themselves at Overton. He still found himself single without any prospective dates. Overton then sued Anheuser-Busch for $10,000 for financial loss, emotional distress, and mental injury. As you would expect, the judge dismissed the case before the jury could even open their first beer. 

5. David Roller Sues David Blaine & David Copperfield 

David Blaine and David Copperfield are two of the most famous magicians in history. That didn’t stop David Roller from suing both men for stealing his life and his “godly” power. He claimed that Blaine and Copperfield employed witchcraft to steal his magical powers.

Roller was no stranger to controversy and wild theories, having previously claimed Bill Gates would run for the Presidency against Roller in the 2008 election. Despite his passion, the judge dismissed the case after hearing all the evidence. 

6. Robert E. Brock Sues Robert E. Brock 

In 1993, Robert E. Brock drank some alcohol and chose to commit breaking and entering and grand larceny. He went to jail for his crimes, but a few years later in 1995, Brock felt it was time to hold the man responsible for getting him into this situation: himself. Yes, Brock sued Brock.

While in prison, Brock sued himself for $5 million for causing himself to violate his religious beliefs. During the court hearing, Brock furiously demanded he pay himself the total. Since he was a “warden of the state,” Brock felt the government should foot the bill and pay him $5 million. The judge wasted no time dismissing the case. 

7. Rachel Cronin Sues Lip Balm

Rachel Cronin was frustrated with her EOS lip balm. She claimed it caused a rash and blisters around her lips. Cronin noted the brand claimed the user could use the lip balm to the bottom. Instead, she could only use about 75%. Cronin felt betrayed by the lie, especially since stars Britney Spears and Kim Kardashian endorsed the brand, and decided to sue.

The EOS Brand thought it was in its best interest to settle the case out of court. Furthermore, many people and celebs even supported the case. While it might seem frivolous, several customers had a similar experience although they didn’t take matters as far as Cronin. 

8. GM Sues Ford for Using the Word “Cruise”

Two of the biggest and most powerful automotive companies wasted their time with a frivolous lawsuit when they should be working together on creating flying cars. GM sued Ford in a lawsuit that took meritless lawsuits to new levels.

In 2021, Ford introduced their new hands-free tech, BlueCruise. It turned out GM had trademarked the word “cruise” for its hand-free tech Super Cruise and subdivision Cruise. So they sued Ford over the use of the word “cruise.” Ford countered, demanding the court rescind GM’s trademarks. The two companies settled out of court in what was one of the biggest wastes of money and resources. 

9. Lauren Rosenberg Sues Google for Giving Bad Directions

In 2009, Lauren Rosenberg pulled out her trusty cell phone to use Google Maps for directions. Google Maps instructed Rosenberg towards Utah State Route 224. Furthermore, Google told her to walk along the busy, dangerous highway without sidewalks.

Instead of assuming the directions were wrong, Rosenberg tried crossing until a car hit her. She sued Google and the driver for $100,000 in 2010, but the judge dismissed the case. 

10. Lindsay Lohan Sues Grand Theft Auto for Stealing Her Likeness

Actress Lindsay Lohan was once a rising star in Hollywood until she suffered several setbacks due to her personal life. She’s had her fair share of court dates, but few compare to her case against Grand Theft Auto V. The popular game hit stores in 2013, but the cover caught the attention of Lohan. She felt the female character, Lacey Jones, looked just like her and that the makers of GTA V, Take-Two, had copied her appearance, voice, and fashion sense.

While Jones is a prominent character on the cover, she has a minor role in the game. That didn’t stop Lohan from suing the creators in 2014. After the original judge dismissed the case, Lohan fought the decision on appeal. In 2018, six New York State Court of Appeals judges rejected her claim noting the Jones character was simply a generic young woman.

11. Man Sues Home Depot Over 4×4

Home Depot has been helping people with their projects for decades, but even they aren’t immune from frivolous lawsuits. In 2018, Mikhail Abramov purchased a pile of 4×4 lumber for a home improvement project. However, he discovered that one of the 4x4s was actually 3.5×3.5.

Abramov was devastated by the betrayal, so he sued Home Depot for deceptive practices. Home Depot’s lawyers countered that 4×4’s a common term and not an exact measurement. The judge sided with the lumber giant and dismissed the case. 

12. The Case of the Scary Dexter Poster 

There are often countless threats of frivolous lawsuits daily in New York City. One case was so frightening it caught everyone’s attention. In 2013, Anjanaffy Njewadda was walking in Grand Central Station when she noticed a poster for the season’s release of Dexter. The poster featured Dexter Morgan with his face covered in plastic but eyes wide open.

Njewadda was so frightened by the image that she fell down the steps, injuring her ankle. Njewadda took legal action and filed suit against the New York Transit Authority and CBS/Showtime. Njewadda lost but the case led to renewed discussions about legal reform.

13. The Sleeping Student Case

There’s always a risk of falling asleep during class and getting caught by the teacher, but who would think of suing their teacher for interrupting their nap? 16-year-old student Vinicius Robacher, that’s who. Robacher fell asleep during math class in 2008 and her Danbury High School teacher, Melissa Nadeau, smacked the palm of her hand on his desk to wake him up.

According to Robacher’s parents, Nadeau hitting the table caused “severe injuries to his eardrum.” So, Mr. and Mrs. Robacher sued the Connecticut Board of Education, Danbury High School, and Danbury City on Vinicios’s behalf. The judge dismissed the case. Unfortunately for Vincious, his classmates sentenced him to a lifetime of mockery and jokes after the lawsuit.

14. Pasta & Order

Barilla is best known for their dried pasta that comes in recognizable blue boxes. Instead of making special boxes for each type, all pasta goes in the same size blue box. This means the boxes contain 16 ounces of regular elbow-shaped pasta but only 14.5 ounces of Protein PLUS elbow pasta and 13.25 ounces of whole-grain elbow.

In 2016, furious customers filed a frivolous class action lawsuit against Barilla for misleading consumers and false advertising. The judge listened to the evidence but dismissed the case and moved on to subsequent frivolous lawsuits.

Everyone has had a moment in public they would rather forget. Sometimes these are simple mistakes while others can snowball into an awkward series of events that nobody will forget. Often people attempt to hide these embarrassing acts, sometimes drawing even more attention to themselves.

In private, people can act any way they want, but once in public, everyone judges each other. As much as everyone tries to deny it, we’ve all done these embarrassing public acts, with some of the worst discussed below. 

1. Eating With Your Mouth Open

It’s common to meet friends for dinner or lunch. There’s a lot of eating and talking taking place and someone is bound to eat with their mouth wide open. This is a public no-n0. Everyone in the restaurant can see your meal chewed up and stuck to your teeth. Nobody wants to see that, so keep your trap shut when eating. 

2. Staring at Someone

The rule when checking someone out the first time is to take a glance. But we know it can be tough not to stare at an attractive person. That doesn’t make the act of staring any better. Getting caught staring is cringeworthy and embarrassing. The awkward eye contact will make both people want to jump out of their skin. It will make you look like a creep too. 

3. Farting in Public

Everyone has passed gas in public at some point in life. Sometimes we’re lucky and it doesn’t make a sound, but other times the disruption can be loud. This is something you don’t want to be doing in the classroom, lecture hall, library, or theatre when it’s so quiet you can hear a pin drop. And if the sound doesn’t get you, then the smell will.

It might come as a surprise, but you don’t look your best when you cry your eyes out. It happens to every grown adult at some juncture in their lives. Maybe you’re watching a heartbreaking movie or listening to a classic Whitney Houston song.

There truly is nothing more stressful than getting your underpants in a knot. It happens to the best of us. The problem is the feeling is debilitating. It feels like the underpants are trying to burrow into your body. No matter how bad it gets, you must resist the urge to pick a wedgie.

It’s tough to pull it off in public without anyone seeing it and there is no graceful or elegant way of doing it. You’re better off waiting until you have some time alone so you can rearrange things without feeling embarrassed. 

10. Spend 20 Minutes Getting the Perfect Instagram Pose

Adding a camera to everyone’s cell phone changed the world. You can. now can snap realistic pictures of you and your friends staring at the sunset. While it might seem natural, most people spend at least 20 to 30 minutes trying to find the right pose.

Despite everyone doing it, getting caught is still embarrassing. It’s even worse when you know someone is taking a million pictures to get the perfect shot to post on Instagram. Nobody wants to be the basic boyfriend taking Instagram shots for their girlfriend.

Walking around with your fly-down is horrifying. The day starts playing on rewind as you picture working all day, going to the bank, and picking the kids up from school. Pretending to be busy in public is a common trick. It’s the easiest way to prevent anyone from trying to start a conversation with you. All you need to do is pull out your phone and pretend to take a call or have a fake text messaging convo.

Some people will actually type while others are just scrolling through social media. Another version of that technique is to pretend to make a phone call. In most cases, people will have a full-blown fake conversation with nobody.

This gets embarrassing when people notice that you aren’t actually talking to someone or texting. Not a situation you want to be in, especially if it’s a friend that catches you trying to avoid them.

1. Kobe Bryant Ignores Chris Rock

During the 2010 NBA Championship finals, Kobe Bryant led the Los Angeles Lakers to victory against the Boston Celtics. During one of the finals games, a funny moment happened when Bryant ignored comedian Chris Rock after taking a seat on the bench.

Rock and comedian David Spade scored front-row seats right next to the Lakers bench. Rock pulled out his A-material, trying to make Bryant laugh when sitting beside him. Bryant remained in the zone and didn’t even crack a smile. Rock trying to make Bryant laugh is one of the funniest sports highlights. 

2. The Fan Man Interrupts Fight

On November 6, 1993, Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bowe were battling over the WBA and IBF Championships in a highly anticipated fight. During the seventh round, “Fan Man” James Miller crashed into the ring resulting in one of the sport’s funniest and most chaotic moments.

Miller’s stunt started with him paragliding for ten minutes inside Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. His equipment tangled in the lights as he descended to the ring. Fans and security attacked Miller once he crash-landed, knocking him unconscious. Authorities charged Miller after he received medical attention. 

3. Boy’s Marriage Proposal To Emma Raducanu

During an intense tennis match on November 28, 2021, seven-year-old Leo Franky couldn’t let his crush slip away without a marriage proposal. She just so happens to be tennis star Emma Raducanu.

As Royal Albert Hall came to a hush, Franky asked Raducanu to marry him. The adorable moment got a huge laugh from everyone in attendance, including Raducanu. It also gained a large number of views online, although poor Franky didn’t get the answer he was hoping for. 

4. Ball Rolls Between Bill Buckner’s Legs

In 1986, Boston Red Sox fans hoped their beloved team could break the famous curse of the Bambino. Unfortunately, the curse reared its ugly head, resulting in the funniest moment in Major League Baseball that year. Well, funny to everyone but Red Sox fans and first baseman Bill Buckner.

In Game 6, the Sox led 5-3 in the bottom of the tenth. It looked like Boston was finally going to break the curse until Buckner famously missed a slow-moving ground ball that passed between his legs. The error resulted in the New York Mets winning Game 6 and eventually the World Series. Boston fans hated Buckner for years until the Sox broke the curse in 2004.

5. Squirrel Scores Touchdown

A squirrel stole the show during a non-conference game between Kent State and Louisville on September 23, 2017. During the second quarter, the squirrel appeared on the 45-yard line. With both teams in a huddle, the squirrel broke away and ran for the end zone like it was playing in the Super Bowl. The fans and media inside Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium erupted with cheers when the squirrel scored a touchdown in a very amusing moment. 

6. Steve Lyons Pulls Down His Pants

Steve Lyons has many impressive accomplishments in his life, but few would rank pulling down his pants as one. Lyons had a reputation for his eccentric personality which gained the nickname “Psycho.” Well, a new nickname was on the horizon.

On July 16, 1990, Lyons slid into first base off a bunt. In the process, he got dirt all over the place. Naturally, he tried to clean it off, which included pulling his pants down in front of thousands of fans in Tiger Stadium and millions watching at home. He quickly pulled his pants up, but it was too late. The cat was out of the bag so to speak. The blooper dominated the airways and Lyons became an overnight sensation. He also got a new nickname, “Moon Man.”

7. Phoenix Sun Gorilla Mascot Saves the Day

In 2017, the Phoenix Suns took on the Washington Wizards in a game when an incident occurred near the end of the fourth quarter. From out of nowhere the Phoenix Sun Gorilla mascot slid onto the court to grab a drumstick that a fan had thrown onto the court during the game.

The funny moment caught everyone off guard, but it turned out the mascot was the game’s hero, saving the players from tripping on the piece of chicken. 

8. Rodney McCray Runs Through Outfield Fence

Rodney McCray will go down in baseball history, just not how he dreamt. McCray had a short stint in the Major Leagues but played mainly in the minors, notably for the Vancouver Canadians. McCray is best known for being in one of baseball’s funniest bloopers.

On May 27, 1991, McCray ran to catch a hit on the outfield of present-day Providence Park in Portland, Oregon. McCray caught the ball but then crashed through the outfield fence. The hilarious blooper remains one of the funniest moments in baseball and is played each year at the Baseball Hall of Fame. It’s even become a popular Internet meme and kept McCray’s name in the spotlight. 

9. Sam Maxwell Knocks Out an Overconfident Fighter

French boxer Sabri Sediri learned an important lesson the hard way back in 2019 – brag once the fight’s over and not a second before. 

Sediri dominated his boxing match against Sam Maxwell for all ten rounds, delivering savage punches to his opponent’s head and body, With only 15 seconds left, Sediri was confident he’d win so he decided to mock Maxwell by dropping his hands. Maxwell took advantage and knocked out Sediri in his most embarrassing loss. 

10. Don Mattingly Eats Fans Popcorn

The great thing about baseball is when players interact with fans. On September 16, 1992, Don Mattingly took off to catch a foul ball. He didn’t have a chance to catch the ball, so he stopped for a snack instead.

As Mattingly got to the fence, he reached into a fan’s bag of popcorn. At first, the fan was too distracted by the foul ball but soon realized Mattingly had grabbed a handful. 

11. Jim Marshall Runs the Wrong the Way

Minnesota Vikings’ Jim Marshall had a decorated career setting several records. Unfortunately for Marshall, he’s best remembered for one of the NFL’s funniest moments. On October 25, 1964, Marshall acted quickly when he recovered a fumble by the San Francisco 49ers. Marshall snatched up the ball and sprinted 66 yards toward the end zone. Well, it turns out that Marshall ran in the wrong direction to his own end zone.

Instead of scoring a touchdown for his team, it was a safety for the 49ers. Luckily the Vikings pulled out the victory in the end. On the plane ride home, Marshall’s teammates teased him for the error. He told the Minneapolis StarTribune, “They kept telling me to get up in the cockpit and fly the plane. That way, we’d end up in Hawaii instead of Minnesota.”

12. Fastball Kills Dove

The death of an animal is never funny, however, it’s hard not to giggle at the odd circumstances that resulted in the death of a dove in one of baseball’s most surreal moments.

During Spring training in 2011, the Mariners met the San Francisco Giants. As pitcher Randy Johnson prepared for his pitch, a dove flew into his pitching zone. Nobody saw the dove until its feathers exploded after the ball made contact. Rest in peace poor pigeon.

The Holy Bible also offers up lessons in life by depicting the most extreme evil, with many also acting as sweet and funny stories about marriage, wisdom, and even drinking. Here’s a look at ten humorous Bible verses sure to give you a laugh. 

1. Matthew 21:18

“Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, ‘May you never bear fruit again!’ Immediately the tree withered.”

Matthew 21 is the twenty-first chapter of the New Testament’s Book of Matthew. It recounts Jesus’s arrival in Jerusalem. At one point during this Bible verse, Jesus appears to become upset with a fig tree. He is hungry, sees the tree, and is hugely disappointed to find only leaves. Thus, he cursed the tree. Out of context, Matthew 21:18 depicts Jesus getting hangry. It happens to the best of us.

2. Proverbs 31:6

“Give beer to one who is dying and wine to one whose life is bitter.”

Out of context, Proverb 31:6, “Give beer to one who is dying and wine to one whose life is bitter,” sounds like good advice from a bartender. It sounds like encouragement to knock back a beer to two. Pity he doesn’t suggest a spirit like a whiskey or rum.

In the Hebrew Bible, the proverb offers profound wisdom and guidance, along with a few laughs about coping with life. 

3. Job 10:10

“Did you not pour me out like milk and curdle me like cheese?”

In the Book of Job chapter 10, Job asks God (also known as Christ Jesus, Christ God, Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit) a series of questions, almost like a trial. Job 10:10 questions, “Did you not pour me out like milk and curdle me like cheese?”

While it might seem like a funny verse, Job’s belief is God molded him into who he is today. We’ve all felt like a glass of milk and curdled cheese at some point in life. 

4. Proverbs 21:19

“Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and nagging wife.” 

Let’s be honest, Proverbs 21:19, “Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and nagging wife,” also works with the roles reversed.

While it might seem like a routine out of a 1980s stand-up comedy special, the proverb makes a valid point. A toxic relationship isn’t good for either the husband or wife. It’s better to wait for the right person to have the perfect love with and form a positive and loving relationship with. Then you can spend eternal life together once this life comes to an end. 

5. Galatians 5:12

“I wish those who are disturbing you might also get themselves castrated!”

In Epistle to the Galatians, Galatians 5:12 notes, “I wish those who are disturbing you might also get themselves castrated!” Luckily, this isn’t the official slogan of the library or Bible study classes. Nobody likes to be disturbed, but the threat of castration might be taking things a bit far. 

6. Acts 2:15

“For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it’s only nine in the morning.”

Specific Bible verses out of context are much funnier, however, even in context, you can find a bit of humor in these scriptures. Take the Acts of the Apostles which features a passionate speech from Peter.

He defends Jesus’ followers and their good work, noting in Acts 2:15, “For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it’s only nine in the morning.” Peter points out that their behavior is a profoundly religious thing and not due to alcohol or other substances as implied. 

7. 1 Samuel 28:7

“Saul then said to his advisers, ‘Find a woman who is a medium, so I can go and ask her what to do.'”

In the Hebrew Bible and Old Testament, the Book of Samuel features the teachings of the prophet Samuel. While he generally offers solid counseling and talk of peace, one funny scripture provides interesting advice.

1 Samuel 28:7 states, “Saul then said to his advisers, ‘Find a woman who is a medium, so I can go and ask her what to do.'” In other words, Saul seeks advice from someone who can talk to the dead. Presumably, the dead can offer better advice than the living, which is a bit of a worry really. 

8. Proverbs 21:19 

“Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.”

The Book of Proverbs offers up more excellent marriage advice. The funny verse has a lot of truth to it, as it’s far better to love yourself and be happy with very little than be in a toxic relationship. Maybe try to find somewhere bigger than the corner of the roof, but you get the picture. 

9. Acts 20:9-10

“Seated in a window was a young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound asleep, he fell to the ground from the third story and was picked up dead. Paul went down, threw himself on the young man, and put his arms around him. ‘Don’t be alarmed,’ he said. ‘He’s alive!'”

In addition to poems, stories, and verses, the Bible is also self-referential. For example, the Bible and other religious texts sometimes feature dull moments to balance out all the excitement. Acts 20:9 pokes fun at the fact that Paul’s speech and wisdom cause a passenger to fall asleep, with the disciple oblivious to his boring preaching. 

10. 2 Kings 2:23

“From there, Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. ‘Get out of here, baldy!’ they said. ‘Get out of here, baldy!'”

Long-flowing hair has always been more popular than a round and bald head. Men losing their hair has been a running joke dating back to the Book of Mark in the New Testament. At one point, a bunch of kids mocks Elisha for being bald like kids making fun of each other during recess. It seems as if bald people have been suffering abuse since the time of Jesus. 

According to commercials, women want expensive jewelry or fancy gifts on Valentine’s Day. Well, they’ll appreciate matching underwear or a funny mug too. Guys love video games and other toys. Let’s be honest; they’ll love sex coupons or personalized chocolate just as much.
