He got the tattoo on the left side of his head and it’s only visible when he wears his hair up in a top knot.
“Mahalo to my OHANA for being there for me yesterday @suluape_keone it was a true honor 20 years in the making,” Momoa captioned his Instagram video revealing the new tattoo before taking a flight on Hawaiian Airlines to New Zealand and Hawaii.
2. Children’s Signatures Tattoo
Jason Momoa is all about family as evidenced by the number of tattoos he has on his body that acknowledge his own flesh and blood. One of the most significant can be found on his left pec over his heart. The two tattoos are from his children, Lola and Wolf, who he shares with Lisa Bonet. The two kiddies signed his chest and then Momoa went and got the signatures inked as a constant reminder of his kids.
3. On the Roam Tattoo
This body art on Jason Momoa’s outer right arm is the logo for his apparel company On the Roam. Formed in conjunction with So iLL Founder, Daniel Chancellor, the brand is aimed at climbers, a sport Momoa is particularly fond of. The brand sells everything from climbing shoes and chalk bags to underwear and waterproof outdoor bags.
Resembling a compass, it’s believed Momoa got the tattoo in 2019, along with a few other employees. It’s one of his lesser-discussed tattoos that adorns his body.
4. Hawaiian Family Crest Tattoo
Similar to his head tattoo, Jason Momoa’s left forearm tattoo is based on his family crest and features a shark teeth pattern. A tribute to his ancestry, the triangles are meant to represent shark teeth, with the tattoo holding lots of meaning for Momoa.
Hawaiians are known to worship Aumakua, their ancestral guardian spirit which takes the form of different animals. Momoa’s Aumakua is a shark, with the spirit said to guide him during difficult times.
5. Etre Toujours Ivre Tattoo
Another family tattoo that is found on Jason Momoa’s right arm is a tribute to his step-daughter Zoë Kravitz. The Aquaman star has the phrase “Etre Toujours Ivre” tattooed on his arm, which means “always be drunk.” Kravitz also has the friendship tattoo in the same spot as Momoa.
Actor Jamie Sives, a close friend of Momoa, also got the same tattoo as revealed on Instagram. Momoa captioned the post with: “Jamie Sives and I Reunited. Jory took the knife to the eye. Khal Drogo has a small tattoo of a skull on his right hand above his thumb. Jason Momoa has had the tattoo for several years but there is no information surrounding why he got the ink or what it means. It’s one of the few tattoos the Game of Thrones star has that is clearly visible and can’t be hidden.

Inked on the middle finger of his right hand is a tattoo in remembrance of his deceased friend Diablo. Jason Momoa got the black ink tattoo in 2014, with an Instagram caption accompanying the image reading, “It’s a new tattoo for my best friend who passed last year. Diablo.”
